Terms of service
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the Site. By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. These Terms sit alongside our Imprint, our Privacy Policy, and our Affiliate and Advertising Disclosure.
What the site is, and what it is not
The Site publishes editorial content about travel, events, food, and life in Germany and Europe, written for internationally mobile residents, expatriates, and travelers. All content is provided for general information and inspiration from a personal perspective without warranty.
We are not a travel agency nor a package travel broker within the meaning of sections 651a and following of the German Civil Code (BGB), a booking platform, or an agent for any venue, restaurant, hotel, or business mentioned on the Site. We do not enter into travel contracts with you.
Nothing on the Site constitutes legal, tax, medical, financial, immigration, or professional advice. It is all personal opinion and reserach only.
Accuracy of information
We research and verify our content with care before publication. Even so, events, opening hours, prices, admission rules, transport connections, and access conditions change frequently and often at short notice, and official organizers may cancel, reschedule, or relocate.
We therefore do not warrant that information on the site is complete, current, or error free, and we do not undertake a duty to keep published content updated. Before you travel or make plans, confirm details directly with the official venue or event operator. Any confirmation you obtain from them prevails over what you read here.
If you spot something that is wrong or out of date, we would like to know. Likewise, cultural norms and information may vary by region. Contact details are in the Imprint. Feel free to reach out to us.
Permitted use of the Site
You may use the Site for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You may bookmark or print individual pages for that purpose only.
You agree not to:
• use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in breach of these Terms;
• interfere with the operation, security, or availability of the Site, including by automated overloading;
• use automated systems to scrape, harvest, index, or reproduce content from the site
• circumvent any technical access restriction; or
• remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, authorship, or attribution notice.
Intellectual property and reservation of rights
All text, photographs, video, graphics, layouts, databases, the euroLYF name and logo, and other original assets are protected under the German Copyright Act (Urheberrechtsgesetz, UrhG) and applicable international copyright and trade mark laws.
Unless otherwise stated, euroLYF holds the rights.
Beyond the uses expressly permitted by these terms or by mandatory statutory exceptions, no content may be reproduced, distributed, made publicly available, adapted, or used for commercial purposes without our prior written consent. This applies equally to substantial extracts of information and to systematic reuse of non-substantial parts.
Some photographs and graphic elements are licensed from third-party sources, including stock and design libraries. Those elements remain the property of their respective rights holders and are used under a commercial license. They may not be extracted from our pages or reused.
Short quotation with a clear source citation and a link back to the original page is permitted within the limits of section 51 UrhG. Republishing full articles, or reproducing so much of an article that a reader no longer needs to visit the original, is not acceptable.

Use of artificial intelligence
We are open about the fact that AI tools form part of our production process. We use them the way a writer uses a research assistant and a first-draft typist: to organize notes, structure outlines, draft and rewriting, tidy language, and cross-check spellings and dates.
Every article published on this site is commissioned, directed, substantively reviewed, fact-checked, rewritten, and finally approved by a human editor before it goes live. Editorial responsibility for all published content rests with ,euroLYF, whose contact details are in the Imprint.
Content is not published on the basis of an AI output that a person has not gone through on the merits. Photographs may be enhanced using AI, however none are deep fake AI unless noted otherwise. In addition, AI may be used as an automated graphic designer to produce guides and interfaces, however it is not without extensive human interaction, direction and input. Therefore, all free guides, infographics, cheat sheets and created designs are copyright euroLYF.
This is a deliberate editorial position, not only a legal one. euroLYF exists because so much travel content about this part of Europe is assembled at a distance by people who have never stood in the places they describe. Our value is first-hand knowledge of the region, verified against primary sources such as tourism offices, local residents and venues.
What we never do with AI
We do NOT:
• publish AI-drafted text that has not been substantively reviewed and rewritten by a human editor;
• invent first-person experiences, visits, meals, stays, or conversations that did not happen;
• present AI-generated imagery as a photograph of a real place, event, or person;
• use AI or bots to generate reviews, ratings, testimonials, followers or reader comments;
Images and other visual material
Photographs and video published on the Site are our own work or are licensed from identified third-party sources, unless expressly stated otherwise. Where an image or video has been generated or materially altered using AI, we label it visibly at the image itself, in line with the transparency requirements of Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the AI Act). Routine photographic processing such as exposure, color, cropping, and noise reduction is not treated as AI generation.
AI features on the Site
The Site does not currently offer a chatbot, AI assistant, or automated conversational feature. Should we introduce one, we will make clear at the point of first interaction that you are dealing with an automated system rather than a person, and we will describe in our Privacy Policy how any data you enter is handled.
Use of our content in AI systems
We expressly reserve the right of text and data mining under section 44b paragraph 3 UrhG and Article 4 paragraph 3 of Directive (EU) 2019/790. Use of any content on this Site for text or data mining, including the development, training, fine-tuning, evaluation, or grounding of artificial intelligence or machine learning systems, is prohibited without our prior written permission. This reservation is made in machine-readable form and applies to the entire site, and social media channels, including text, images, video, structured data, and metadata.
It applies equally to reproduction of our content in the outputs of an AI system, including summaries, paraphrases, and answer snippets that reproduce our original expression or that substitute for a visit to the original page. Retrieval by an AI system at the time of a user query is treated the same as training use for these purposes.
We are open to licensing. If you want to use euroLYF content in an AI product or dataset, contact us using the details in the Imprint and we will discuss terms.
AI and the limits of accuracy
Human review substantially reduces the risk of AI-related error, but it does not eliminate it, any more than it eliminates ordinary human error. Section 4 above applies in full to all content on the Site regardless of how it was drafted.

Advertising, affiliate links, and cooperationa
euroLYF is funded in part through advertising, affiliate partnerships, and paid or gifted sponsorships. Where a link is an affiliate link, we may receive a commission, if you click through and make a purchase or booking, at no additional cost to you. Where content is paid, sponsored, or produced in cooperation with a partner, or where a stay, meal, ticket, or product was provided free of charge, we label it clearly and directly at the relevant point, in line with section 5a paragraph 4 of the German Act Against Unfair Competition (UWG).
Our full Affiliate and Advertising Disclosure sets out these arrangements in detail and forms part of these Terms. Commercial relationships do not buy a favourable opinion.
Third-party links and content
The Site contains links to third-party websites, social media profiles, booking systems, and other external content, provided for convenience.
We have no influence over the content, design, availability, or data handling practices of external sites, and at the time of linking we found no indication of unlawful content. Responsibility for external content rests with its respective provider. A continuous, unprompted review of linked pages is not reasonable in the absence of concrete indications of an infringement, in line with sections 7 to 10 of the German Digital Services Act (Digitale-Dienste-Gesetz, DDG). If we become aware that a linked page contains unlawful content, we will remove the link without undue delay.
Comments and user contributions
Where the site or social media feeds allow you to post comments, images, or other contributions, you remain responsible for what you submit. You warrant that you hold the necessary rights and that your contribution does not infringe third-party rights or applicable law.
By submitting a contribution, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable right to store, display, and reproduce it on the Site and in associated channels for the purpose of operating and promoting the Site. You may withdraw this by asking us to delete your contribution.
Contributions must be your own work. Please do not submit AI-generated text or imagery as your own original material.
We may remove or refuse contributions that are unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, misleading, purely promotional, or off topic. We are under no general obligation to monitor contributions but will act without undue delay once we obtain actual knowledge of unlawful content.
Newsletter and voluntary contact
Subscribing to a newsletter or contacting us is entirely voluntary. Subscription requires confirmation by double opt-in, and every mailing contains a one-click unsubscribe link. Details of how we handle the data involved are set out in our Privacy Policy.
Paid content and digital products
Where we offer paid guides, paid subscriptions, or other digital products, those purchases are governed by separate General Terms and Conditions presented to you before you complete the order. Those terms set out the ordering process, pricing, payment, delivery, and your statutory right of withdrawal under sections 312g and 355 BGB, including the circumstances in which that right lapses for digital content under section 356 paragraph 5 BGB.
The present Terms of Use do not create any purchase obligation and do not restrict your statutory consumer rights.
Changes to these Terms
We may amend these Terms where necessary, for example to reflect changes in the law, in our offering, or in how the Site operates. The current version is always available on this page with its effective date. Continued use of the Site after an amendment takes effect constitutes acceptance of the amended Terms. Amendments will not apply retroactively to contracts already concluded.
Consumer dispute resolution
We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board within the meaning of the German Act on Alternative Dispute Resolution in Consumer Matters (Verbraucherstreitbeilegungsgesetz, VSBG). You remain free to bring any complaint to us directly, and we will always try to resolve matters informally first.
Governing law and place of jurisdiction
These Terms and your use of the Site are governed by the law of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Should any provision of these terms be or become invalid or unenforceable, the validity of the remaining provisions is unaffected. Any invalid provision is replaced by the applicable statutory rule.
